Our History

History
Jessie Hughes .jpg

1926 – 2007:

Mrs Jessie Hughes was the wife of the Rector of Tarporley. As President of the Women’s Institute, she played a prominent part in providing a Village Hall for Eaton. Money was raised from two village fetes held on the Arderne Estate in May 1925 and September 1926, and along with other monies from subscriptions, whist drives and concerts, just over £500 was raised for building and furnishing the Eaton Institute.

Testimonials

“The Jessie Hughes Institute is a very modern, light and comfortable hall to hire. It had everything we needed and it was a very easy process to book the hall. Highly recommended! It was a great success, and lots of comments about what a lovely village hall it is as people had travelled from all over the country to come!”
